Air Tahiti Nui presents its picture book in reo Tahiti

Papeete, December 6, 2023 – Since May 2023, Air Tahiti Nui has introduced a brand-new digital booklet on board its flights: a picture book designed to help our visitors acquire a few rudiments of reo Tahiti (Tahitian language), making their trip even more immersive and interactive.

Polynesian languages are part of our heritage. They tell our story, reflect how we see the world, and shape our identity. This is why it seems so important to give our visitors the opportunity to learn the basics of the language, so that they can have a privileged access to a people and its culture.

For their first steps into the Tahitian language, in 2022 Air Tahiti Nui wanted to create an illustrated journey featuring some of the typical interactions our visitors are likely to have with their Polynesian hosts. This practical booklet in French and English was created by Speak Tahiti – Paraparau Tahiti, and illustrated by the Coolie Citron agency.

Since 2019, Speak Tahiti – Paraparau Tahiti has been offering learning and sharing solutions for the Tahitian language. Convinced that languages are lived and an integral part of culture, the team continues to develop new solutions. Today, Speak Tahiti – Paraparau Tahiti also extends its services to other indigenous languages around the world to preserve linguistic diversity and cultures.

 

Nestle cuts ocean transport emissions with Maersk ECO Delivery solution

Copenhagen, Denmark/Vevey, Switzerland, December 6, 2023 – Nestle SA (SIX Swiss: NESN), the world’s largest food and beverage company, is cutting its ocean logistics greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by using the Maersk AS (OTC: AMKBY) ECO Delivery solution for 100% of its ocean containers shipped by Maersk in 2023, with an option to extend this agreement into 2024 and beyond. The seaborne emissions of these transports are being reduced by over 80% compared to the usage of conventional fossil fuels.

With ECO Delivery, Maersk customers can handle ocean transports completely with certified green fuels* like second generation biofuel based on waste feedstocks. These fuels are replacing conventional fossil fuels on container ships in Maersk’s fleet. The corresponding GHG emission savings are confirmed to the customers with a certificate.

Nestlé’s goal is a 50% reduction of its total emissions by 2030 and to be net zero by 2050. With scope 3 emissions being the major part of the overall emissions, ECO Delivery is an effective solution for abatement of scope 3 emissions caused by ocean transports. Nestlé’s water beverages and Nespresso have been two pioneering brands using ECO Delivery since 2021.

Today many more of Nestlé’s up to 2,000 brands are reaching the end consumers with a much smaller GHG footprint thanks to Maersk’s ECO Delivery. Furthermore, Nestlé is one of Maersk’s partners in piloting also low GHG emission landside transports, e.g. by rail or electric trucks.

Siemens and Intel to collaborate on advanced semiconductor manufacturing

Siemens AG (ADR: SIEGY), a leading technology company, and Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC), one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on driving digitalization and sustainability of microelectronics manufacturing. The MoU identifies key areas of collaboration to explore a variety of initiatives, including optimizing energy management and addressing carbon footprints across the value chain. November 10, 2023 – Fiji Airways is closing off the airline award season on a high with two prestigious accolades in the APEX Passenger Choice Awards for 2024.

The National Airline has been honoured with the coveted awards;

Rex Airlines wins APEX Award for best cabin service in the South Pacific

Rex Airlines has been recognised as having the South Pacific’s Best Cabin Service in the 2024 Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) Awards. The award was presented in Singapore last night where Rex’s Executive Chairman, Lim Kim Hai, accepted it on behalf of the airline.

The award ceremony was part of the FTE APEX Asia Expo, the air transport industry’s largest passenger experience and business performance event. APEX said nearly one million flights were anonymously rated by passengers across more than 600 airlines from around the world using a five-star scale.
