Hahn Air partners with Air Moana

Hahn Air welcomes Air Moana in its leading partner portfolio. Its flights are available in major GDSs under the Hahn Air Technologies X1 code. Travel agents in 190 markets worldwide can book the domestic airline from French Polynesia via the standard reservation process and issue tickets on the insolvency-safe HR-169 document.

Air Moana is a domestic carrier based at Papeete Faa’a Airport (PPT) in French Polynesia. It was founded in 2021 and it currently serves seven destinations with a fleet of two ATR72-600 aircraft.

Boeing delivers first Orca undersea vehicle to U.S. Navy

Huntington Beach, California, December 20, 2023— Boeing (NYSE: BA) has delivered the first Orca Extra Large Uncrewed Undersea Vehicle (XLUUV) to the U.S Navy following acceptance testing completion this month. The XLUUV, designated by the Navy as “Orca,” is a new class of autonomous submarine that can perform long duration critical missions to achieve undersea maritime dominance in changing environments and contested waters.

With the partnership of the Navy, Orca has undergone several phases of at-sea testing, including above and below surface maneuvers to demonstrate the vehicles’ unique capabilities.

Orca is the result of more than 50 years of Boeing experience building and operating undersea vehicles. In 2012 Boeing initiated the design and development of Echo Voyager, a proof-of-concept XLUUV that began at-sea testing in 2017 and was a precursor to the US Navy’s Orca XLUUV competition. Echo Voyager – the world’s only vehicle of its size and capability – has spent over 10,000 hours operating at sea and transited hundreds of nautical miles autonomously.

Maersk launches new weekly service to the Port of Rades, Tunisia

Port of Rades, Tunis, 20 December 2023 – AP Moeller – Maersk A/S (Copenhagen: MAERSKb) is proud to announce a new transport solution connecting the growing Tunisian market to its mainliner services to and from Europe, Middle East and Asia. The new weekly service started recently and is operated with a dedicated ro-ro vessel between the Port of Rades and the connecting hub port of Cagliari in Italy. Furthermore, the weekly service offers the best connection between Morocco and Tunisia.

The ro-ro vessel is leaving the port of Tunis Rade, Tunisia every Friday evening, calling the Cagliari, Italy on Saturday and connecting with our hub port in Tangier, Morocco on Thursday.

Spain orders 16 Airbus C295 for Maritime Patrol and Surveillance

Getafe, Spain, December 20, 2023 – The Spanish Ministry of Defence has ordered 16 Airbus Group SE (Paris: AIR) C295 aircraft in Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) configuration and Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA) configuration. The contract amounts to €1.695 billion.

These new aircraft will enable the Spanish Air and Space Force and the Spanish Navy to strengthen the national anti-submarine warfare capability as well as increase and enhance its surveillance, reconnaissance and search & rescue units.

The contract also includes training systems (Full Flight Simulator and Mission System Simulator) and an initial logistics support package.

The C295 MPA will conduct the missions performed by the P-3 Orion fleet, which were retired at the end of 2022. It will be equipped to carry out anti-submarine, anti-surface warfare and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. Likewise, it will be able to carry armaments such as torpedoes and other types of weapon systems.

Rolls-Royce powers Europe’s first inland ferry

Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (London: RR) powers Europe’s first inland ferry using a high-speed mtu Series 4000 gas engine has just gone into operation on Lake Constance, Germany. The ferry, which was recently christened Richmond, will cross Lake Constance eight to nine times a day, carrying up to 700 passengers and 64 cars from Meersburg to Constance and back. It joins a fleet of five other ferries that are all powered by mtu engines.

The Richmond is the first inland ferry in the world to be powered by high-speed, gas-only engines. The two eight-cylinder mtu Series 4000 engines each provide 746 kilowatts of power and operate with less noise and vibration than a diesel engine, while keeping emissions below the current IMO III nitrogen oxide limits, even without exhaust gas aftertreatment.

A multipoint gas injection system ensures dynamic acceleration behaviour while the turbocharging system enables sufficient power reserves throughout the entire speed range for difficult driving manoeuvres.

In the future, the ferry operator hopes to run the ship on bio-liquified natural gas (LNG) and thus be completely climate-neutral.

Air Corsica adds two additional ATR 72-600 to regional fleet

Toulouse, France, December 18, 2023 –ATR, the world number one regional aircraft manufacturer, and Air Corsica have confirmed a firm order for two more ATR 72-600 aircraft. Air Corsica has completed the full transition of its fleet of ATR -500 series to the latest generation of turboprop aircraft from its order initially at the Paris Air Show.

The two aircraft are scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2024, at which time Air Corsica will have fully harmonised its regional fleet. The airline will have seven ATR 72-600 aircraft, powered by the latest PW127XT engines, optimising the reliability, comfort, operating costs and CO2 emissions of its connecting flights between Corsica’s four airports and Nice and Marseille and providing a high-quality public service.

Air Corsica was the first operator to take delivery of an ATR 72-600 equipped with the new PW127XT engine at the end of 2022, which brought a 20% reduction in maintenance costs and at least a 3% reduction in fuel consumption compared with the PW127M. It generates CO2 emission savings of 45% compared with a similar-size regional jet, demonstrating its commitment to operational excellence, regional connectivity and sustainability.

Japan Airlines takes delivery of its first A350-1000

JAL’s A350 is configured in four classes. The First Class features six Suites, each with a choice of three modes: sofa, seat and single bed or double bed. The Business Class also offers Suites, with 54 seats and privacy doors. Meanwhile, the Premium Economy Class (24 seats) and Economy Class (155 seats) both feature more personal space and comfort in their respective categories. JAL’s A350-1000 cabin has been designed to make passengers immerse in the elegance of Japanese aesthetics and tranquillity. Meanwhile, a serene ambiance highlights the beauty of Japan. JAL has ordered 31 A350 aircraft, comprising 18 A350-900’s and 13 A350-1000’s. The carrier has been operating the A350-900 on high density Japanese domestic routes since 2019. Philippine Airlines and American Airlines launch new codeshare partnership

Travelers gain seamless connections between the Philippines and the United States

Manila, Philippines & Fort Worth, Texas — Philippine Airlines parent PAL Holdings, Inc (Philippines: PAL) and American Airlines Group (Nasdaq: AAL) have launched a codeshare partnership that introduces the first marketed flights by a Philippine carrier to several U.S. destinations and allows American’s customers to travel to the Pearl of the Orient, Manila, and the beautiful beaches of Cebu.

American’s customers are now able to book tickets on aa.com for codeshare flights operated by Philippine Airlines to Manila and Cebu via Tokyo. Additionally, customers will be able to fly to Manila from Honolulu and Guam.

Philippine Airlines has placed its “PR” code on American’s flights between Los Angeles and seven U.S. cities: Atlanta, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, Orlando and Washington, D.C., enabling excellent connectivity with PAL’s trans-Pacific service.

Philippine Airlines operates twice-daily nonstop flights to Los Angeles, daily flights to San Francisco and multiple weekly flights to New York, Honolulu and Guam.
