I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a startup airline, though I fear that their chances of success are probably quite low.

Let’s take a look at AURA, which bills itself as “America’s first five star flight experience.”

What is AURA?

AURA is a new airline startup that hopes to fly by 2019. They’ll operate a fleet of CRJ700s featuring only 29 seats.

This includes eight WAVE seats, which will be in a 1-1 configuration.

United Airlines is hot for Vail, and the Colorado ski resort evidently feels the same about the Chicago-based carrier.

Tammie Jo Shults, hero pilot of Southwest 1380

Audio of the Southwest Airlines incident has emerged, showing how pilot Tammie Jo Shults remained completely calm after an engine exploded and a woman passenger was nearly sucked out of the plane.

Former fighter pilot Ms Shults has been hailed a hero for the way she nursed Flight 1380 to an emergency landing while calmly telling air traffic control: “We have part of the aircraft missing … There is a hole and, um, someone went out.”

WestJet Sees Boeing’s Max 7 as Key to Savings

Boeing’s slow-selling 737 Max 7 has a big fan in Western Canada. WestJet Airlines will become the second carrier next year, after Southwest Airlines Co., to operate the smallest version of Boeing’s upgraded workhorse. The Calgary-based company is set to receive five of the single-aisle jetliners next year.

“We love those planes,” WestJet Chief Executive Officer Gregg Saretsky said in an interview, citing the aircraft’s range and 12 additional seats compared with the Boeing 737-700, a linchpin of the airline’s fleet. “It’s great for long, thin markets.”
