Boeing (NYSE: BA) announced a new 10-year agreement with North American carrier Frontier Airlines to implement a range of crew, flight-planning and operations tools to enhance efficiency for the airline.
These digital solutions from Boeing’s Jeppesen product range provide fleet-wide cost savings across regional and international routes, enhance airline crew-planning processes and increase operational reliability.

Sun Country Airlines,a small Minnesota-based, low-cost carrier owned by private-equity firm Apollo Global Management, plans to file for an initial public offering as soon as April, Sun Country’s CEO said Tuesday in an interview.
“Our earnings are supportive,” Jude Bricker told Skift at the International Aviation Forecast Summit in Las Vegas. “I think there’s a market for an airline that is growing.”
If Sun Country were to go public next year, it would be a fast turnaround for Apollo, which acquired the airline in December 2017. The previous owners, Mitch and Marty Davis, who also control Cambria, a maker of stone countertops, had managed Sun Country more like a family business than a medium-sized airline. Apollo has cut costs and changed the model, dropping first class, adding fees and making more it like Frontier Airlines or Spirit Airlines than an undersized competitor to Delta Air Lines or American Airlines.

USA Today has reported that Southwest will cut nearly 20 nonstop routes across its network to free up airplanes for higher demand flights, including its new Hawaiian service. The routes being cut include Austin to San Francisco, which will be discontinued on January 6th. After the discontinuation, you’ll still be able to fly nonstop to San Francisco on Alaska, Frontier, and United Airlines.
Southwest also confirmed in July that it would discontinued nonstop service to Newark Liberty International Airport in November due to the grounding of its Boeing 737 Max aircraft this year. United will continue to fly nonstop to Newark with American, Delta and JetBlue serving New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Despite the cuts in Austin service, Southwest Airlines will still be the top air carrier at Austin Bergstrom International Airport by passenger traffic.

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) – Icelandic low-cost carrier WOW air, which is in talks with U.S. private equity fund Indigo Partners about a potential investment, said on Thursday it would reduce its fleet to 11 aircraft from twenty and cut 111 jobs.
Indigo is managed by Bill Franke, the veteran U.S. low-cost airline investor, and has also made investments in U.S.-based Frontier Airlines, Mexico’s Volaris, Chilean carrier JetSmart and Hungary’s Wizz (WIZZ.L).
“After a challenging year, WOW air is now restructuring and simplifying its operations to return to its roots as a profitable ultra-low cost airline while discussions with Indigo Partners progress,” WOW Air said in a statement.
It said it was in negotiations with its lessors to return some of its aircraft including all Airbus A330s. Four Airbus A321s are being sold in a transaction that will improve its liquidity by more than $10 million, it said.
WOW Air will have around 1,000 employees after the job cuts, it said.
Indigo and WOW Air have not disclosed any details about their talks, but WOW Air has said that CEO and primary shareholder, Skuli Mogensen will remain a principal investor in WOW after the deal.
Icelandair (ICEAIR.IC) last month scrapped its plan to buy the privately-held airline.

Allegiant, on August 21, announced it will start serving Tucson International Airport (TUS) in mid-November with nonstop flights to Bellingham, Washington, just across the border from Vancouver, and to Provo, Utah.
To celebrate the new service, Allegiant is offering introductory fares as low as $49 one way to Provo and $69 to Bellingham. Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, August 22, 2018*.
