– Eleven-year award builds on more than a decade of A-10 support
PLANO, Texas, Aug. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Boeing (NYSE: BA) will continue its legacy of A-10 Thunderbolt II sustainment work under an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract award from the U.S. Air Force (USAF), with a maximum ceiling value of $999 million.
Under the contract, which was competitively awarded, Boeing will be responsible for managing the production of a maximum of 112 wing sets and spare kits. The USAF ordered 27 wing sets immediately at contract award.

Boeing will team with Korean Aerospace Industries and other key suppliers to deliver the first wing sets to Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah.
Under a previous contract, Boeing delivered 173 enhanced wing assemblies.

MILAN, June 14 (Reuters) – Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini said on Friday an infrastructure or transportation group would be his preferred partner for troubled carrier Alitalia.
He added that he had reservations about a possible involvement of Lazio soccer club Chairman Claudio Lotito, who submitted an expression of interest for the airline this week.
Salvini’s comments put pressure on Industry Minister Luigi Di Maio, who is also the leader of the 5-Star Movement and has been handling the Alitalia crisis since the coalition government took office last year.
Di Maio has already had to postpone the deadline for the rescue of the carrier three times and the latest extension is due to expire on Saturday with every expectation it will have to be prolonged yet again as the search for a solution continues.
Italy’s state-owned railway group Ferrovie dello Stato is spearheading an effort to set up a consortium of investors to buy loss-making Alitalia, which is managed by administrators.
So far Ferrovie has secured the commitment of Delta Air Lines but it is struggling to find another partner who is willing to invest more than 300 million euros ($336 million) in Alitalia, which has a long history of financial woe.
Salvini, who is the head of coalition party League, said caution was needed in picking the right partners.
“We are talking about a company (Alitalia) with 11,000 employees, which has a potential U.S. partner (Delta) with dozens of billions in sales, that deals with infrastructure and airplanes,” Salvini told reporters in Milan.
“As far as I know, Lotito, at present, just lets lads play soccer,” he added.
One source with knowledge of the matter told Reuters that Ferrovie had recently had talks with infrastructure group Atlantia over Alitalia, but added that its involvement in any accord still lacked the necessary political green-light.
Di Maio and other 5-Star officials strongly criticised Atlantia over the deadly collapse of a motorway bridge managed by the group, which killed 43 people last August.
After the disaster the government said it would revoke Atlantia’s motorway concession, accusing the company of poor maintenance of its road network.
Atlantia has denied any wrongdoing and could join the Alitalia consortium as a way to mend its relationship with the government, sources had told Reuters. The company, which is controlled by the Benetton group, denied on Wednesday that it had reached a deal to join the rescue.

HANOI (Reuters) – Vietnamese carrier Bamboo Airways has signed a firm
deal to buy 50 Airbus A321Neo planes, its chairman Trinh Van Quyet said
on Thursday.
The first of the planes will be delivered in 2022, Quyet told Reuters.
He said Bamboo Airways will conduct its first international flights late next month, to Japan, Singapore and South Korea.

Boeing and International Airlines Group, the parent company of
British Airways, announced February 28, 2019 the airline has committed
to purchasing up to 42 777X airplanes, including 18 firm orders and 24
options. British Airways joins a group of leading carriers that have
selected the new 777-9, which will debut next month as the largest and
most efficient twin-engine passenger jet in the world.
The commitment, valued at up to $18.6 billion at list prices, will be reflected on Boeing’s Orders and Deliveries website once it is finalized.
“The new 777-9 is the world’s most fuel efficient longhaul aircraft
and will bring many benefits to British Airways’ fleet. It’s the ideal
replacement for the 747 and its size and range will be an excellent fit
for the airline’s existing network,” said Willie Walsh, IAG chief
executive. “This aircraft will provide further cost efficiencies and
environmental benefits with fuel cost per seat improvements of 30 per
cent compared to the 747. It also provides an enhanced passenger
experience”.
British Airways has been modernizing its fleet – one of the largest in the airline industry – to more efficiently serve its extensive global route network. In recent years, the airline has introduced the super-efficient 787 Dreamliner family to replace its medium-sized widebody jets. The new 777-9 will replace British Airways’ larger widebody airplanes, mainly the four-engine 747 jumbo jet.
In ordering the 777-9, British Airways extends a long-running
relationship with the popular 777 family. The airline is one of the
largest 777 operators with a fleet of nearly 60 of the long-range jet.
The airline last year committed to four more 777-300ER (Extended Range)
jets via operating lease.
The 777-9 is larger and slightly wider than current 777s with the ability to comfortably sit 400-425 passengers in a standard two-class cabin. Powered by 787 Dreamliner technologies, an all-new composite wing, and other enhancements, the 777-9 offers airlines 12 percent lower fuel consumption than competing airplanes. The 777-9 can also fly farther than its predecessors with a standard range of 7,600 nautical miles (14,075 kilometers).

innovative and growing Vietnamese carrier has purchased 100 additional
737 MAX airplanes, taking their MAX order book to 200 jets. During a
signing ceremony today in Hanoi, United States President Donald Trump and Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong joined leaders of both companies to unveil the $12.7 billion order, according to list prices.
The deal includes 20 MAX 8s and 80 of the new, larger MAX 10 variant,
which will have the lowest seat-mile costs for a single-aisle airplane
and be the most profitable jet in its market segment. The order was
previously unidentified on Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries website.
In ordering 80 MAX 10s, Vietjet becomes the largest Asian customer of
the airplane type. The carrier plans to use the added capacity to meet
growing demand across Vietnam, as well as to serve popular destinations throughout Asia.

for us to keep up with our international flight network expansion plan

(Reuters) – Boeing Co topped expectations with both quarterly profit and its forecast for 2019 cash flow on Wednesday, as a boom in air travel underpinned a prediction for full-year deliveries of around 900 commercial airplanes.
The company said it expects to deliver between 895 and 905 commercial aircraft in 2019, up from the 806 units it delivered last year, which kept it ahead of rival Airbus as the world’s biggest planemaker for the seventh straight year.
Boeing’s shares rose 6.4 percent to $388.25 in early trading in response, helping lift the U.S. stock futures.
Investors closely watch the number of planes Boeing turns over to airlines and leasing firms in a year for hints on the company’s cash flow and revenue.
The company forecast operating cash flow between $17 billion (13 billion pounds) and $17.5 billion in 2019, compared with cash flow of $15.32 billion in 2018, and above analysts’ average estimate of $16.73 billion, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.
It expected 2019 core earnings between $19.90 per share and $20.10 per share, and revenue between $109.5 billion and $111.5 billion.
Those numbers indicate that the fuselage and engine delays at suppliers that dominated last year are largely behind Boeing.
Boeing’s core earnings rose to $5.48 per share in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, from $5.07 per share a year earlier, and came in above Wall Street’s estimate of $4.57 per share.
Quarterly revenue rose 14.4 percent to $28.34 billion, above analysts’ average expectation of $26.87 billion.

DUBAI (Reuters) – Iran needs some 500 planes and would likely back buying the Sukhoi Superjet 100 if Russia is willing to sell them to its airlines, Iranian news agencies reported the country’s top civil aviation official as saying on Wednesday.
Iran needs to upgrade its ageing passenger fleet and is seeking to avert U.S. sanctions on Tehran.
The U.S. Treasury has revoked licences for Boeing Co (BA.N) and Airbus (AIR.PA) to sell passenger jets to Iran after President Donald Trump pulled the United States out of the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement in May and reimposed sanctions.
Most modern commercial planes have more than 10 percent in U.S. parts, the threshold for needing U.S. Treasury approval.
But Russian officials have been reported as saying Sukhoi is working on reducing the number of U.S. parts in the hopes of winning an Iranian order for up to 100 aircraft.
“If the Iranian airlines want to use this aircraft (Superjet 100 ) and the seller is willing to sell it to Iran, the Civil Aviation Organization is ready to issue its final comment on this aircraft,” the semi-official Fars news agency quoted Ali Abedzadeh, head of the Civil Aviation Organization, as saying.
“But this aircraft has adhered to world standards and is flying currently, therefore there is no reason for us to reject it,” Abedzadeh told Fars.
Flag-carrier IranAir had ordered 200 passenger aircraft – 100 from Airbus, 80 from Boeing and 20 from Franco-Italian turboprop maker ATR (LDOF.MI) before U.S. licences were revoked.
“The airlines have proposals for plane purchases and we are trying to devise regulations that will ease their aircraft imports. Considering Iran’s very large market, we need 500 planes now,” Abedzadeh was quoted as saying by the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
