Vietjet Air picks Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines for A330neo

Singapore Air Show, February, 2024 – Vietjet Air has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus Group SE (Paris: AIR) for the purchase of 20 A330-900 widebodies. When the order is finalized, the aircraft will be operated on the carrier’s growing long range network, as well as on high capacity regional services. They will replace the carrier’s current fleet of leased A330-300’s, as well as providing for network expansion.

Rolls-Royce (LSE: RR) today announces a commitment by Vietjet Air for 20 Trent 7000 powered A330neo, which will complement the airline’s existing widebody fleet of seven Trent 700 powered A330ceo aircraft.

With a laser focus on sustainability, Vietjet Air has committed to the A330neo/Trent 7000 combination as it delivers a 14% better fuel burn per seat, whilst significantly lowering emissions. The reduction in emissions will allow the airline to avoid more than one hundred thousand tons of CO2 over the lifetime of each aircraft.

The Trent 7000 draws on the technology and experience of the most advanced family of engines in the world. As the latest member of the Trent family, the Trent 7000 is based on Trent XWB technology and has delivered exceptional reliability since its entry into service.

STARLUX Launches Widebody Fleet with First Airbus A330neo

Toulouse, France February 21, 2022 – Taiwan’s STARLUX Airlines has taken delivery of its first widebody aircraft – an A330-900. It is the first of 26 Airbus (OTC: EADSY) widebodies set to join the airline’s fleet, comprising eight A330neo and 18 A350’s.

The A330neo aircraft and one A350 are being acquired on lease from ALC, while the airline has 17 A350s on direct order with Airbus. Benefiting from the A330neo’s unbeatable operating economics and award-winning Airspace cabin, the aircraft will feature a two-class cabin with 28 business class seats and 269 economy class seats.

The A330neo joins an existing fleet of seven single-aisle A321neo at the airline, and will complement the airline’s network by flying regional routes from Taiwan to the wider Asia-Pacific.

At the same time, STARLUX has also signed up for the computer-based ACE (Airbus Cockpit Experience) Suite training solution. Using a “learning by discovery” approach, STARLUX’s flying crew will be able to use the ACE Trainer that simulates a 3D Cockpit environment with guided lessons and free play.

ACE Suite offers an efficient learning process that also provides customers with significant time savings off high-level devices training. Users can enjoy better knowledge retention and continuous skills reinforcement. ACE Suite is approved by EASA and in line with ICAO regulations.

ITA Airways Firms Up Order for 28 Airbus Aircraft

Toulouse, France, 1st December 2021 – ITA Airways, Italy’s new national carrier, has firmed up an order with Airbus (OTC: EADSY) for 28 aircraft, including seven A220’s, 11 A320neo’s, and 10 A330neo’s, the latest version of the most popular A330 widebody airliner. The order confirms the Memorandum of Understanding announced on 30th September 2021. In addition, the airline will pursue its plans to lease A350s to complement its fleet modernization.

These new Airbus aircraft will expand the initial ITA Airways fleet with a new generation aircraft with better environmental performance, equipped with latest technologies and state-of-the-art cabins to guarantee maximum operational efficiencies for the airline and the best comfort to travelers.

The A220 is the only aircraft purpose-built for the 100-150 seat market and brings together state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials and Pratt & Whitney’s latest-generation geared turbofan engines. With a range of up to 3,450 nm (6,390 km), the A220 gives airlines added operational flexibility. The A220 delivers up to 25% lower fuel burn and CO2 emissions per seat compared to previous generation aircraft, and 50% lower NOx emissions than industry standards. In addition, the aircraft noise footprint is reduced by 50% compared to previous generation aircraft – making the A220 a good neighbour around airports.

Cebu Pacific Receives its First Airbus A330neo

Cebu Pacific has taken delivery of its first A330neo as it begins its widebody fleet modernization program. The aircraft is configured with 459 seats in single-class layout and will be operated by the airline on trunk routes within the Philippines and the rest of Asia, as well as on longer range services to Australia and the Middle East. The A330neo offers versatility for a wide range of routes from shorter regional services to medium and long haul operations.

Altogether Cebu Pacific has ordered 16 A330neo, and also has 16 A320neo and 22 A321neo outstanding to be delivered. The low-cost carrier currently operates 50 Airbus aircraft, comprising 43 A320 Family and 7 A330ceo.

The aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce’s latest-generation Trent 7000 engines and features a new composite wing with increased span for enhanced aerodynamics.

The A330neo brings a step change in efficiency, consuming 25% less fuel than previous generation aircraft and a similar reduction in CO2 emissions. The outstanding efficiency of the A330neo also ensures compliance with current and future sustainability requirements in terms of noise and emissions

With an order book of more than 1,800 aircraft at the end of October 2021, the A330 remains the most popular widebody family aircraft of all time.

Condor Picks Airbus A330neo for Fleet Modernization

German airline Condor has chosen the A330neo to renew its long-haul fleet with plans to introduce 16 aircraft of this new and more efficient type. The airline has signed an agreement with Airbus for the purchase of seven Airbus A330neo, and intends to lease a further nine.

Condor is the latest airline to order Airbus’ state-of-the-art A330neo widebody aircraft, bringing a step-change in performance and economics. The airline will operate the A330neo on its international long-haul network to the Americas, Africa, the Caribbean and Asia.

Airbus Delivers First A330neo To TAP Air Portugal

TAP Air Portugal has taken delivery of the world’s first new generation widebody A330neo and, as the launch airline, will be the first to benefit from the aircraft’s unbeatable operating economics, increased range, and Airbus’ new Airspace cabin offering passengers the best in class comfort. The Portuguese carrier will take delivery of a further 20 A330-900s in the coming years.

TAP Air Portugal’s first A330-900 is leased from Avolon. It features 298 seats in a comfortable three-class lay-out with 34 full-flat business class, 96 economy plus and 168 economy class seats. The Airspace by Airbus cabin offers more personal space, larger overhead storage bins, advanced cabin lighting and the latest generation in-flight entertainment system and connectivity. The aircraft will be deployed on routes from Portugal to the Americas and Africa.

The A330neo is a true new generation aircraft building on the A330’s success and leveraging on A350 XWB technology. It incorporates the highly efficient new generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, and a new higher span 3D optimised wing with new sharklets fully optimised for the best aerodynamic performance. Together these advances bring a significant reduction in fuel consumption of 25 percent compared with older generation competitor aircraft of a similar size. Moreover, new composite nacelles, a fully faired titanium pylon and zero-splice air inlet technology provide the A330-900 with state-of-the-art aerodynamics and acoustics .

Today, TAP Air Portugal operates an Airbus fleet of 72 aircraft (18 A330s, 4 A340s,and 50 A320 Family aircraft). The single-aisle fleet includes 22 A319ceo, 21 A320ceo and four A321ceo, one A320neo and two recently delivered A321neo.

The A330 is one of the most popular widebody families ever, having received over 1,700 orders from 120 customers. More than 1,380 A330s are flying with over 128 operators worldwide. Hawaiian Airlines Begins Code-Sharing With Japan Airlines

Last year, more than 1.5 million visitors traveled from Japan to Hawaii. That makes Japan the biggest source of international tourists to Hawaii, nearly equaling all other international markets combined.

For more than seven years, Hawaiian Holdings (NASDAQ: HA) and Japan Airlines have been fierce competitors in this massive travel market. However, they recently decided to team up. On Sunday, the two carriers began code-sharing — selling flights on each other’s aircraft — for dozens of routes.

Boeing and GE appear to win big American Airlines order

American Airlines (AAL) has reportedly ended talks with Airbus (EADSY) for its A330neo aircraft, making it appear as if Boeing (BA) and General Electric (GE) will walk away as the winners of the large widebody aircraft order.

American is looking to purchase 25 to 30 new widebody aircraft, which would have a value of around $8 billion at list price. Large customers are usually able to negotiate large discounts, so the real would probably land somewhere around the $4 billion mark.

Airbus has reportedly commented that it was not able to match the Boeing price for its 787 Dreamliners. American Airlines is also reportedly looking to cancel an earlier order it had placed for 22 Airbus A350 aircraft.

This deal would also be a huge win for struggling General Electric, whose engines look like the winner for the order over Rolls Royce, according to reports from Reuters. If the Boeing win at American is finalized, it would be the second big blow for the A330 this month following Hawaiian Airlines (HA) announcement that it would switch its A330-800 order for the Boeing 787. The Airbus A330neo has been struggling to get passenger orders, forcing Airbus to consider offering the aircraft in a cargo version to help increase sales.

Boeing also stated that it has just delivered its first 787-10 Dreamliner to Singapore Airlines yesterday.

Airbus looks to land IndiGo A330neo order

IndiGo, India’s biggest airline, plans to order as many as 50 Airbus A330 wide-body jets as it seeks to expand beyond short-haul flights, people with knowledge of the matter said.

The carrier aims to take the upgraded A330neo version of the plane, according the people, who asked not to be named as the discussions aren’t public. The deal would be worth $13 billion at list prices for the smaller of two variants, though some of the aircraft are likely to options to be confirmed later.
