Air Malta Launches Lifeline Schedule as Europe COVID-19 Situation Worsens

Air Malta has launched its second ‘lifeline schedule’, following the worsening of the COVID-19 pandemic all over Europe. The schedule, intended to ensure essential passenger and cargo connectivity to and from the Maltese Islands to key airports, will commence on Wednesday 27th January.

For now, the lifeline schedule is being introduced until the end of February, however, following evaluations in the coming weeks on developments throughout Europe, Air Malta will consider whether to extend it further.

The National Airline has been at the forefront in efforts to ensure essential passenger connectivity to selected major European cities as well as a continuous connectivity for cargo, mail and essential medical supplies including the COVID-19 vaccine and other resources that are critical to the Islands’ supply chain. It is intended to guarantee peace of mind and stability for the Islands during these uncertain and testing times.

Air Malta will be operating 19 weekly return flights to eight destinations: Amsterdam, Brussels, Catania, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Paris Charles De Gaulle, Rome and Zurich with the below schedule:

The Airline will continue making changes to its flight schedule to maximize capacity whilst ensuring connectivity.

Where Delta is flying in June

Delta’s summer schedule continues to be shaped by customer demand, CDC guidelines and government travel regulations. While the June schedule is significantly reduced in comparison to last year, customers will see the return of several major routes, both U.S. domestic and international, which were previously suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Customers traveling with Delta can feel confident in a safe flying experience. In addition to requiring customers and employees to wear face coverings throughout the travel journey, Delta has implemented policies like capping seating between 50 and 60 percent to ensure customer spacing on all aircraft, elevated its cleaning measures to deliver a new standard of clean, and streamlined its in-flight services to decrease touch points on board. Customers also have added flexibility if they need to change their plans.

Here’s a snapshot of where Delta is planning to fly in June. This schedule, including routes and frequency, remains subject to change due to the evolving nature of COVID-19. This page may be updated.

U.S. DOMESTIC

Ensuring connectivity for customers with critical travel needs, Delta continues to provide flights to all U.S. hubs and top markets, though frequency is significantly reduced. While Delta has temporarily consolidated operations in some markets served by multiple airports, the airline is adding more flights to its June schedule in comparison to May, primarily in Atlanta, New York and between hubs.

Delta’s second quarter schedule is 85 percent smaller than last year, with reductions of 80 percent in U.S. domestic capacity and 90 percent internationally.

La Compagnie Places Order For 2 Airbus A321-NEO Aircraft

La Compagnie, an all business class airline flying between New York (Newark International) and Paris (Charles de Gaulle), announced an order for 2 new Airbus A321-NEO aircraft last month. The boutique air carrier placed the order three years after launching as an exclusively business-class airline on the 4th of July in 2014, and one year after adding a second daily flight between New York and Paris. The airline currently uses a fleet of two Boeing 757 aircraft that are outfitted with 74 lie-flat seats.

La Compagnie, French for “The Company”, is accelerating its development with the order of the two Airbus A321-NEO aircraft. The investment marks a major milestone for the still-young airline, revealing its plan for stable growth and future route expansion. Due for delivery in 2019, the new modern, efficient and eco-friendly A321-NEO aircraft will take La Compagnie’s in-flight business-class experience to a new level. The planes will be equipped with the latest in technology, Wi-Fi, and full lie-flat beds. This should allow its passengers to be well-connected and well-rested upon arrival in New York or Paris.

The airline joined forces with XL Airways in 2016, and has progressively focused on optimizing its performance across all fronts. The choice of the French aeronautical firm Airbus strengthens La Compagnie’s French spirit and philosophy that has made the carrier desirable for intercontinental passengers. The airline has always been an advocate for the French business community, and with the selection of Airbus and the A321-NEO, they are able to illuminate their French touch and travel experience.

Icelandair adding flights to Paris Orly Airport

Icelandair has announced that it will be adding service to the Paris Orly Airport beginning this summer season. Flights will initially operate 2 times a week beginning on the 28th of March.  Service will increase to 3 times a week beginning on the 21st of May, and then go up to 5 flights a week starting in June. The flights will be in addition to the current existing Icelandair service to the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. The airlines flights to Paris began over 40 years ago at Orly Airport, before moving the flights to the newer Charles de Gaulle Icelandair adding flights to Paris Orly Airport Airport. The Paris Orly Airport is located just 8 miles south of many of the major tourist attractions of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower, Place de la Concorde, and Notre Dame. Orly Airport also has high speed metro train access from both of the airport terminals.
