The first flight of the fourth GlobalEye is an important milestone in Saab’s Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) program and highlights that Saab can rapidly and reliably deliver GlobalEye.
The Saab (OTC: SAABF) aircraft took to the skies from Saab’s airfield in Linköping, Sweden on April 03, 2023 and performed several tests related to the aircraft’s capabilities.
GlobalEye is the most modern multi-domain Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) solution with an array of active and passive sensors that provide long-range detection and identification of objects in air, at sea and over land.
By providing real-time information to units in air forces, armies and navies, GlobalEye enables enhanced situational awareness of the surrounding areas and early detection of threats. It can also be used for non-military tasks such as leading and coordinating rescue missions during natural disasters or larger accidents at sea or on land.
Saab has today received a follow on contract with the United Arab Emirates regarding the sale of two GlobalEye systems, Saab’s advanced airborne surveillance system. The order value is USD 1.018 billion and the contract period is 2020-2025.
The original contract with the United Arab Emirates for GlobalEye was signed in 2015. This contract is an amendment to that signed in 2015.

The work will be carried out in Gothenburg, Linköping, Arboga, Järfälla and Luleå in Sweden and in Centurion, South Africa.
The contract was signed by the customer on the 30th of December 2020, hence the order was booked during the fourth quarter 2020.
GlobalEye provides simultaneous air, maritime and ground surveillance. It combines sophisticated radar technology with the ultra-long range Global 6000 aircraft from Bombardier.
Håkan Buskhe has informed Saab’s Board of Directors that he is leaving the position of President and CEO. The Board will now begin the recruitment of a successor.
Håkan Buskhe has according to his contract a six-month notice period and will continue in his current role for the time being, but will leave Saab by February 2020. The exact date will be determined by the recruitment process that Saab’s Board now is initiating.

The development of Gripen E, Saab’s part in the US T-X project and a sharp increase in capability within the important sensor technological area with i.a. GlobalEye, are some examples of this. Under Håkan Buskhe’s leadership, Saab has also expanded internationally and started collaborations with a number of other leading defence industries. All in all, this means that Saab stands on a solid foundation, which is necessary with the extremely rapid technological developments that affect all industries,” says Marcus Wallenberg, Chairman of the Board.
Håkan Buskhe assumed the role of President and CEO of Saab on September 1, 2010. Håkan Buskhe is 55 years old.
