Alstom wins contract to extend Le Mans France trams

Le Mans, France, March 12, 2024 Alstom, global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has been chosen by ‘Le Mans Metropole’ to extend the existing Citadis trams of the city. The 34 32-metre-long Alstom trams, acquired successively in 2007, 2010 and 2013, will be extended to 44 metres, increasing passenger capacity by 85 passengers per tram.

After the complete assessment of a first tram, the project will also enable some systems to be modernised (CCTV, tachometric control unit) and new ones to be installed (lubrication and anti-drift systems).

Delivery of the first extended trams is scheduled in March 2026, with commercial service expected to begin in the summer of 2026.

Airbus Helicopters and SKYCO Leasing sign agreement for 6 H175 helicopters

Marignane, France, March 8, 2024 – Airbus Group SE (Paris: AIR) Helicopters and SKYCO International Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., a state-owned enterprise belonging to China’s Guangdong Province, have signed a contract for six H175 helicopters.

Entrusted by the Guangdong Provincial Government, SKYCO Leasing is in charge of leading the aviation industry development in the province. The versatile H175 helicopters acquired by SKYCO Leasing will be deployed by the Guangdong Government for search and rescue, emergency medical services, disaster relief and other public services missions in China.

In service since 2015, Airbus’ H175 belongs to the super-medium class of helicopters, combining long-range and payload with smooth flight qualities, making it the optimal solution for a wide range of onshore and offshore mission profiles, including disaster relief, search & rescue and other public services, as well as crew change and private and business aviation. The 55 H175’s currently in service have accumulated more than 210,000 flight hours, of which 184,000 in the energy sector.

Marriott signs agreement to debut Autograph Collection in Hong Kong

Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR) today announced it has signed an agreement with Victoria Park Hotels Ltd. to launch The Park Lane Hong Kong, Autograph Collection in early 2025. The Park Lane Hong Kong, Autograph Collection is expected to join Autograph Collection Hotels’ portfolio of over 300 independent properties in the most desirable locations across the world, each with its own unique perspective on heartfelt design and hospitality.

The Park Lane Hong Kong, Autograph Collection will be located on Gloucester Road in Causeway Bay, home to Victoria Park, Hong Kong Island’s largest public park. The hotel will be within a 5-minute walk to Causeway Bay Metro Station and within 10 minutes’ walk to major corporate venues such as the Lee Garden and World Trade Center. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center and Hong Kong’s key business district, Central, are only a 5-minute drive from the property, and Hong Kong International Airport is a 35-minute drive away.

United adds 3 international destinations & 4 flights to global network

Airline increases flying to Portugal, Hong Kong and South Korea; resumes Los AngelesShanghai service

Chicago, March 7, 2024, PRNewswire – Today United announced it is expanding its leading global route network, adding new non-stop flights between New York/Newark – Marrakesh, Morocco; Tokyo/Narita – Cebu, Philippines, and Houston Medellin, Colombia. Alstom to supply additional 20 Movia C30 metros for SL Sweden

March 7, 2024 Alstom, global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, and SL have concluded an agreement for an option of 20 additional Movia C30 metro trains on the existing contract. The first agreement, signed in 2013, included an order for 96 metro trains with an option for an additional 80. The contract has been extended, and Alstom will supply a total of 116 metro trains or 464 cars, which operate on the Stockholm metro system.

The C30 metro trains currently run on the red line in the Stockholm metro system, gradually replacing the older C20 trains on the line. These new trains are part of a modernisation and capacity increase to enable SL to transport over one million passengers daily. The C30 metro train is now approved to operate on both the blue and green lines in preparation for future options.

The carriages, renowned for their robust regional design, were put into service in 2019. Manufactured in Germany, the design is described as “straightforward and Scandinavian,” featuring many delightful design touches. For instance, ventilation holes under the windows incorporate playful elements such as the computer game character Pacman, crowns, hearts, and play symbols, offering charming details for commuters on the go.

Icelandair selects Pratt & Whitney GTF™ engines to power A320neo aircraft

Eeast Hartford, Connecticut, March 4, 2024, PRNewswire – Pratt & Whitney, an RTX (NYSE: RTX) business, today announced that Icelandair has selected GTF engines to power up to 35 new Airbus A320neo family aircraft, comprising a mix of leased and purchased A321XLR and A321LR aircraft. With this order, Icelandair becomes a first-time GTF customer. The airline has also selected an EngineWise® agreement for the long-term maintenance, repair and overhaul of its GTF engines. Alstom receives additional order for MF19 metros for Paris

March 7, 2024 –  Alstom, global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, will supply Île-de-France Mobilités and RATP with 103 new MF19 trainsets, which is the new generation metro on rail, for a total contract value of more than €800 million, 100% financed by Île-de-France Mobilités. This new fleet will replace the existing rolling stock on lines 13, 12 and 8 of the Île-de-France metro as of 2027.

This additional order is part of the framework agreement signed in December 2019 between RATP (on behalf of Île-de-France Mobilités) and Alstom for the delivery of up to 410 MF19 trainsets. The MF19 will eventually equip 8 lines of the Île-de-France metro (lines 3, 3bis, 7, 7bis, 8, 10, 12, 13).

In 2019, an initial batch of 44 trainsets was ordered which will be gradually deployed on lines 10, 7bis and 3bis from 2025 onwards. This makes a total of 147 MF19 metros that have now been ordered to date, demonstrating Île-de-France Mobilités’ and RATP’s renewed confidence in this modern rolling stock.

103 5-car trains to renew lines 13, 12 and 8

The fleet of 103 additional trainsets will comprise

  • 67 trains for line 13,
  • 22 trains for line 12,
  • 14 trains for line 8.

These 103 trainsets will all have a driver’s cab. As the MF19 trains are fully reversible to adapt to the needs and developments of the lines, these can be converted into automatic metros if the lines are automated.

American Airlines places order for up to 133 Embraer aircraft

Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil, March 4, 2024 – Embraer (NYSE: ERJ) has secured a major order for 133 aircraft from American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ: AAL) to meet domestic demand in the United States. American has placed a firm order with Embraer for 90 E175’s, with purchase rights for 43 additional jets. The aircraft will be delivered with 76 seats in American’s standard dual-class configuration. The deal, with all purchase rights exercised, is worth more than US$7bn at list price, and the firm orders will be included in Embraer’s 1Q24 backlog.

The E175 is one of the most popular aircraft in the region, with  837 aircraft sold (including today’s firm order for 90) and 88% market share since 2013.

American is focused on bringing larger dual-class regional aircraft into its fleet, which will continue to drive connectivity from smaller markets to the rest of the airline’s global network. American expects to retire all of its 50-seat single-class regional jets by the end of the decade and will continue to serve small and medium-sized markets with larger regional jets.

Ethiopian Airlines expands widebody fleet with Boeing 777X jets

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, March 5, 2024, PRNewswire – Boeing co. (NYSE: BA) and Ethiopian Airlines announced today an agreement for the East African airline to purchase eight 777-9 passenger airplanes and the potential for up to 12 additional jets.
