{"id":10071,"date":"2021-02-25T22:21:03","date_gmt":"2021-02-26T04:21:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/planesintheair.com\/?p=10071"},"modified":"2021-02-25T22:23:50","modified_gmt":"2021-02-26T04:23:50","slug":"delta-and-latam-receive-final-approval-in-brazil-for-joint-venture-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/?p=10071","title":{"rendered":"Delta and LATAM Receive Final Approval in Brazil for Joint Venture Agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Delta Air Lines (NYSE: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zacks.com\/stock\/quote\/DAL?q=DAL\" target=\"_blank\">DAL<\/a>) and<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>LATAM\u00a0(Santiago: <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/LTM.SN?p=LTM.SN&amp;.tsrc=fin-srch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LTM.SN<\/a>) have received final approval, without conditions, of their commercial agreement (\u201ctrans-American Joint Venture agreement\u201d or \u201cJVA\u201d) by the Brazilian competition authority &#8211; the Administrative Council for Economic Defense &#8211;\u00a0after initial approval was granted in September 2020. The JVA seeks to enhance the route networks served by both airlines, delivering a seamless travel experience between North and South America. The Delta-LATAM agreement has also been approved in Uruguay while the application process continues in other countries, including Chile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis final approval in Brazil furthers our mission to provide customers in this important market with the world-class travel experience and options they deserve,\u201d said Delta CEO Ed Bastian. \u201cMoving forward, we will continue working with LATAM to unlock more benefits for our customers and create the premier airline alliance of the Americas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LATAM Airlines Group CEO Roberto Alvo added, \u201cThis ruling &nbsp;reinforces the benefits of this type of agreement for travelers and enables us to advance in our commitment to delivering greater and better connectivity between South America and the world.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ratification by the Brazilian authority supports the work of both airlines to deliver a broader and more competitive network of benefits for their customers that will include, among others:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Code-share agreements between Delta and certain subsidiaries of the LATAM group, which allow the purchase of tickets to a larger network of destinations.<\/li><li>Members of the Delta SkyMiles and LATAM Pass programs can redeem points \/ miles on both airlines, accessing more than 435 destinations around the world.<\/li><li>Shared terminals and faster connections at Terminal 4 of New York\u2019s John F.
