The first of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/media.amtrak.com\/media-images\/50th-anniversary-commemorative-painted-locomotives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">six different commemorative 50<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary locomotives<\/a>\u00a0has already entered service on the national network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe chose locomotives already budgeted for new paint as part of our life cycle preventative maintenance program and used the opportunity to celebrate this significant milestone on the most iconic component of our business,\u201d said Amtrak President Stephen Gardner. \u201cThe locomotive designs uniquely honor our heritage and our vision of connecting communities, economies and families nationwide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The commemorative locomotive list includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>P42 #46 in \u201cPhase V 50<sup>th<\/sup>\u201d \u2013 The standard Amtrak livery for the past two decades with our \u201cConnecting America for 50 Years\u201d slogan including a large golden yellow 50.<\/li><li>P42 in \u201cMidnight Blue\u201d: An all new one-of-a-kind paint scheme celebrating the dedication and commitment of our employees moving people around the clock and across the nation.<\/li><li>P42 in \u201cPhase VI\u201d \u2013 The first adaptation of the latest Amtrak livery phase on a P42.<\/li><li>P42 in \u201cPhase I\u201d \u2013 A rendition of Amtrak\u2019s first livery phase dating back to 1972.<\/li><li>P42 in \u201cDash 8 Phase III\u201d \u2013 The award-winning livery designed for the Dash 8 locomotive fleet in the early 90s, adapted for the first time to a P42 locomotive.<\/li><li>ALC-42 #301 in \u201cDay 1\u201d scheme \u2013 A historic throwback to the unique design created for the first day of operations on May 1, 1971, applied to Amtrak\u2019s newest locomotive.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each P42 locomotive is being painted and overhauled at the Amtrak Beech Grove shops in Beech Grove, Ind., rolling out over the coming months and entering service across the national network. Employees will also ensure that these locomotives are maintained to high performance and safety standards. ALC-42 #301 is currently being manufactured by Siemens in Sacramento, Calif. and is expected to be delivered in April to undergo testing in the Northeast Corridor before entering service on the national network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the commemorative locomotives,\u00a050<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Anniversary collectible items\u00a0are also now available for purchase at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/store.amtrak.com\/productlist.aspx?did=34721\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amtrak store<\/a>, including t-shirts, glasses, a challenge coin, pins and other celebratory Amtrak gear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Amtrak 50th - Paint Scheme and Livery History\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TOZdzbDpftI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption>Amtrak 50th &#8211; Paint Scheme and Livery History<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amtrak fans across the country may soon spot a few freshly painted locomotives featuring new anniversary logos rolling down the tracks as America\u2019s Railroad\u00ae celebrates 50 years of service this year.
