The deal was announced this morning, and follows a deal signed between the two companies\u00a0for 25 A-350-900 and 25\u00a0A-330-NEO&#8217;s placed in late 2014. Delta will use the new A-321\u00a0aircraft to\u00a0replace their older, less fuel efficient\u00a0MD-88\u00a0aircraft that were manufactured\u00a0by McDonald Douglas. Boeing acquired\u00a0McDonnell Douglas back in August of 1997.\u00a0This new order is\u00a0in addition to the 45 Airbus A-321\u00a0aircraft that Delta Air Lines ordered\u00a0back\u00a0in June of 2014. The new Airbus deal follows on the heels of the airlines order of 75 Bombardier CS100 jets that was just announced.
