The flight boarded and departed as scheduled at 4:15 pm local time. The flight was very smooth, and the service was good. We had booked an aisle and middle seat, but upon checking in at the kiosk, I found that the window seat on our row was still available. I changed my wife’s seat assignment, and we were able to enjoy the flight with an extra seat of elbow space between us. There was an incident when we tried to check our 2 free bags using our American Airlines Visa card. Our connecting flight from Los Angeles to Vancouver was operated by partner Alaska Airlines. There is reportedly suppose to be a 2:45 layover minimum to transfer the bags, and our scheduled layover was 2:36. This prevented the system from issuing our luggage tags. The counter agents were able to manually generate the baggage tags, and were very helpful and polite.

American Airlines 2607 flight review facts:

Aircraft: Airbus A319

Legroom: Acceptable

Aircraft condition: Good

Aircraft cleanliness: Poor (our row had not been vacuumed)

Departure: On-time

Arrival: On-time

Non-alchoholic beverages: Free

Snacks: Free

Overall score: 7 out of 10

Final thoughts: We have had several flights on American Airlines over the past 2 years. It was nice to be on a newer aircraft, as we have experienced at least 2 aircraft changes in the past that involved a 4 hour departure delay each time. The new management that came in from the US Air merger have been working to modernize the American Airlines fleet. I do find it strange to be flying on both American Airlines and an Airbus aircraft, however. We will continue to fly American Airlines in the future based on fare and scheduling.
