{"id":13016,"date":"2023-12-12T21:59:15","date_gmt":"2023-12-13T03:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/planesintheair.com\/?p=13016"},"modified":"2023-12-12T21:59:15","modified_gmt":"2023-12-13T03:59:15","slug":"study-commission-for-margarethen-platform-access-and-new-margarethen-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/?p=13016","title":{"rendered":"Study commission for Margarethen platform access and new Margarethen Bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"VIpgJd-yAWNEb-VIpgJd-fmcmS-sn54Q\">On December 12, 2023, the SBB and the canton of Basel-Stadt announced a selection process for the further development of the \u201cMargarethen Platform Access\u201d and \u201cNew Margarethen Bridge\u201d projects. <\/span><span class=\"\">The teams that win the contract should find a convincing solution for the two structures in coordination with SBB and the canton. <\/span><span>The final juried results should be available in spring 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"isPasted\"><span>The Swiss government, canton and SBB want to expand access to rail and urban transport to the west of Basel SBB station. <span class=\"VIpgJd-yAWNEb-VIpgJd-fmcmS-sn54Q\">On the one hand, the SBB is moving the train stops more to the west on behalf of the federal government, thereby also relieving pressure on the main passerelle. <\/span>On the other hand, the canton of Basel-Stadt wants to create an interchange for public transport near the market hall. This allows passengers to quickly and conveniently transfer from the train to the tram \u2013 and vice versa. This should also relieve pressure on Centralbahnplatz in the medium term.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Two major projects are being planned and will combine these two goals: the Margarethen platform access and a new Margarethen Bridge.
