Ryanair made the statements during its quarterly earnings announcement on July 26. The airline announced net income increased 4.5% to \u20ac256 million during the quarter. The airline also reported an 11%\u00a0gain in passenger traffic, which helped to offset a 10% ticket price decline.\u00a0The airlines stock gained\u00a05.5%\u00a0to\u00a0close at\u00a0\u20ac11.56 yesterday\u00a0on the Irish Stock Exchange. The stock has fallen\u00a0around\u00a023% so far this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The discount airline will attempt\u00a0lure more passengers by lowering its ticket prices. European flight passenger loads have dropped substantially following\u00a0a string of terrorist attacks in the region. Ryanair announced that it still plans\u00a0to carry\u00a010%\u00a0more passengers than a year ago, which seems like a tall order. The Irish airline, based in Dublin, plans to drop ticket prices around\u00a012% to lure customers away from other carriers.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ryanair Brexit pains<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The airline had\u00a0campaigned heavily for Britain to remain in the European Union. Following\u00a0the vote to leave the EU, the airline announced\u00a0cutbacks on its London\u00a0routes. The carrier will reduce service\u00a0at the London Stansted Airport, beginning in the fourth quarter of this year. Stansted Airport is currently the\u00a0biggest base Ryanair operates. The capacity will be shifted mainly to its eastern Europe operations, and includes\u00a0around 50 new jet deliveries.\u00a0European fares were already declining prior to\u00a0the Brexit vote. The\u00a0airline added flights in an attempt to\u00a0increase\u00a0market share. However, the expected increase in\u00a0demand failed to materialize. The recent attacks in France\u00a0and Germany\u00a0are likely to drive\u00a0ticket prices down even\u00a0more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">EasyJet, the British discount rival of\u00a0Ryanair, announced a\u00a0profit warnings in recent weeks.\u00a0EasyJet\u00a0also failed\u00a0to provide future earnings estimates. Its shares have\u00a0lost\u00a0a third of their value since the referendum vote.
