{"id":2579,"date":"2018-07-28T23:41:25","date_gmt":"2018-07-29T04:41:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/planesintheair.com\/?p=2579"},"modified":"2018-07-29T00:36:02","modified_gmt":"2018-07-29T05:36:02","slug":"boeing-steps-in-to-help-ukrainian-plane-maker-antonov","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/?p=2579","title":{"rendered":"Boeing To Help Ukrainian Plane Maker Antonov"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"canvas-atom canvas-text Mb(1.0em) Mb(0)--sm Mt(0.8em)--sm\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">KIEV (Reuters) &#8211; \u00a0Ukrainian plane maker Antonov, known for producing the world&#8217;s biggest aircraft, plans to restart serial production by the end of next year thanks to a deal with Boeing that will end Antonov&#8217;s dependence on Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"canvas-atom canvas-text Mb(1.0em) Mb(0)--sm Mt(0.8em)--sm\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Relations between Ukraine and Russia collapsed following the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and Antonov, which imported more than 60 percent of its plane parts from Russia, halted serial production two years later.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"canvas-atom canvas-text Mb(1.0em) Mb(0)--sm Mt(0.8em)--sm\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">It now plans to build eight planes a year thanks to a deal with Aviall, Boeing&#8217;s parts, equipment and services unit, with the first two or three planes ready by the end of 2019, Antonov chief Oleksandr Donets told Reuters in an interview.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"canvas-atom canvas-text Mb(1.0em) Mb(0)--sm Mt(0.8em)--sm\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">He gave no details on future customers. Antonov&#8217;s main sales markets have been Russia, the former Soviet republics and Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"canvas-atom canvas-text Mb(1.0em) Mb(0)--sm Mt(0.8em)--sm\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">The companies will jointly set up storage facilities in Ukraine by November, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"canvas-atom canvas-text Mb(1.0em) Mb(0)--sm Mt(0.8em)--sm\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8220;(The agreement with) Aviall has given us two gains.
