It has ordered a total of three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbus.com\/aircraft\/passenger-aircraft\/a380.html\">A380<\/a>s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines, the jetliner features ANA\u2019s  very latest in-flight entertainment systems, as well as full  connectivity in all classes. It will enable the airline to almost double  the capacity between Japan and the U.S. island state of Hawaii,  generating value for the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/planesintheair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/A380-ANA-from-above-2.jpg?fit=640%2C427\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4109\" width=\"595\" height=\"396\" srcset=\"https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/A380-ANA-from-above-2.jpg 6000w, https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/A380-ANA-from-above-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/A380-ANA-from-above-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/A380-ANA-from-above-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As the world\u2019s largest and most spacious passenger aircraft, the A380 will be operated on ANA\u2019s popular Japan-to-Hawaii route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis marks a new milestone in our relationship \nwith ANA \u2013 our longest-standing customer in Japan,\u201d said Tom Enders, \nAirbus Chief Executive Officer, during today\u2019s delivery ceremony at \nToulouse, France. \u201cWe are confident the A380 will be a huge success in \nservice with All Nippon Airways, and we remain committed to supporting \nthe airline\u2019s A380 operation \u2013 as we will for all operators of this \nmagnificent aircraft.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each of ANA\u2019s A380s will feature the special livery depicting the \nHawaiian Green Sea Turtle. The no. 1 aircraft is blue, the second will \nbe green and the third orange. This elaborate paint scheme covers a \nsurface of 3,600 square metres and took the Airbus team 21 days to \npaint, using 16 different shades of colour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this character design of \nHonu, All Nippon Airways aims to raise awareness about environmental \nissues and contribute to saving sea turtles and the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shohei Hattori, ANA Corporate Planning Manager<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCustomers around the world were asked to create \nan attractive design to be painted on Japan&#8217;s first A380 as part of a \ncontest \u2013 and the Honu, a symbol of good luck and prosperity in Hawaii, \nwas among the numerous ideas,\u201d explained Shohei Hattori, the ANA \nCorporate Planning Manager.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Airbus\u2019 longstanding relationship with Japan <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The relationship between Airbus and Japan\u2019s All \nNippon Airways began in 1986, when the airline placed its first order \nfor 20 single-aisle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbus.com\/aircraft\/passenger-aircraft\/a320-family\/a320ceo.html\">A320s<\/a>, the first of which entered service in 1991. Since then, ANA has operated a fleet of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbus.com\/aircraft\/passenger-aircraft\/a320-family.html\">A320 Family<\/a>\n aircraft, consistently ranking among the top Airbus operators for \ntechnical performance and achieving more than 99.5% operational \nreliability with its latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbus.com\/aircraft\/passenger-aircraft\/a320-family\/a321neo.html\">A321neo<\/a> fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years, Airbus also extended its operator base in Japan with\n ANA subsidiaries Peach Aviation and Vanilla Air, both of which \nexclusively fly Airbus A320 Family aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of 2018, Airbus reached a milestone with 100 of its  aircraft in Japanese operators\u2019 service, representing 20% of total fleet  flying in the country \u2013 with a target to reach 30% by 2020, and 50% in  the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/planesintheair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/first-A380-ANA-MSN262-delivery-ceremony-day-2-078.jpg?fit=640%2C446\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4110\" width=\"594\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/first-A380-ANA-MSN262-delivery-ceremony-day-2-078.jpg 3626w, https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/first-A380-ANA-MSN262-delivery-ceremony-day-2-078-300x209.jpg 300w, https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/first-A380-ANA-MSN262-delivery-ceremony-day-2-078-768x535.jpg 768w, https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/first-A380-ANA-MSN262-delivery-ceremony-day-2-078-1024x713.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As the first Japanese \ncustomer for Airbus\u2019 double-deck jetliner, ANA\u2019s no. 1 A380 bears the \nrepresentation of a Hawaiian turtle \u2013 and will be part of promotions to \nsave sea turtles and the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The unique A380 experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 230 A380s have been delivered to 15 \nairlines worldwide, with the jetliners operated on 120-plus routes and \n60 destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An estimated250 million passengers&nbsp;already have flown aboard \nthe double-deck aircraft \u2013 and people actively seek out A380 flights for\n the unique travel experience. To assist passengers, Airbus created a \ndedicated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iflya380.com\/\">iflyA380<\/a> website, where travellers can search and book their preferred flights \u2013 which now also include those operated by ANA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some 50% of weekly global A380 flights take place in Asia-Pacific \u2013 \nwith flights performed within the region, to or from it, demonstrating \nthat the jetliner offers the best solution for traffic growth in Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As\u00a0the world\u2019s largest and most spacious passenger aircraft, the A380  is a favourite among travellers, with unmatched comfort and wider  seats. For airlines, the jetliner has the lowest cost per seat of any  competing widebody, delivering comfort and economic benefits and  maximising revenue.
