The base will begin operations with1 Boeing 7378-800 aircraft. Norwegian Air Shuttle also announced it will\u00a0open\u00a0the airlines\u00a015th base in Europe at the Rome Fiumicino Airport on March 27. The new Rome base will operate\u00a0flights\u00a0to Bergen, Norway; Copenhagen, Denmark; Gothenburg, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland; London, England (Gatwick Airport); Oslo, Norway; and Stockholm, Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>Ryanair has also announced it will close two bases in Italy at Alghero and\u00a0Pescara, and drop\u00a0service to Crotone,\u00a0over an increase in Italy\u2019s municipal tax rate.\u00a0On\u00a0January 1, the\u00a0tax rate\u00a0increased\u00a0from \u20ac6.50 ($7.30) to \u20ac9 ($10.00) per\u00a0passenger.\u00a0Ryanair will also\u00a0cut frequencies and routes to other Italian destinations,\u00a0and add\u00a0capacity at\u00a0Rome and Milan.
