The new\u00a0SpaceShipTwo replaces\u00a0the rocket ship that broke apart over\u00a0the Mojave Desert almost\u00a016 months ago, killing 1\u00a0of its 2\u00a0pilots. SpaceShipTwo is the first unit\u00a0to be built by Virgin Galactic&#8217;s manufacturing arm the Spaceship Company. The test campaign\u00a0for the ship&#8217;s\u00a0flight pressure, electrical systems, and rocket motor system\u00a0is currently\u00a0underway. Once complete, the testing will move on to\u00a0glide testing, and then rocket powered testing.<\/p>\n<h2>Virgin Galactic Market Potential<\/h2>\n<p>The spaceships potential is targeted at the perceived\u00a0space tourism industry.\u00a0Passengers are expected to\u00a0pay up to $250,000 or more to for a short trip in and out of outer space. Richard Branson&#8217;s company was the\u00a0leader in opening up space tourism, but since the crash of the previous SpaceShip, competitors have been gaining ground. The\u00a0competition\u00a0includes Hawthorne, California based SpaceX and Blue Origin. SpaceX is controlled\u00a0by Elon Musk of Tesla, and Blue Origin is\u00a0controlled by Amazon.com CEO\u00a0Jeff Bezos.\u00a0Blue Origin launched\u00a0its New Shepard vehicle into space\u00a0at an\u00a0altitude of 329,839 feet before it\u00a0touched back down successfully at its launch site in Texas. SpaceX has also launched\u00a011\u00a0satellites into orbit, with its first stage rocket booster touching back down\u00a0at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
