Nok Air, a leading\u00a0low cost airline based in Thailand, stranded\u00a0hundreds of passengers last Sunday\u00a0when the airline’s pilots went on strike. The pilots walked off the job as\u00a0the airline boosted its auditing standards to comply with\u00a0the\u00a0European Aviation Safety Agency. After\u00a0the incident, aviation authorities called for a meeting with the top\u00a0airlines operating flights in Thailand. Nok Air failed to show up at the meeting, but released a statement that it was engaged in\u00a0an internal meeting to address\u00a0the issue.\u00a0Nok Air continues to cancel some of its scheduled domestic services, including\u00a0some flights between\u00a0Khon Kaen, Trang, and Surat Thani suspended through to Sunday. The airline stated that it is taking action against 10 pilots\u00a0believed to be behind\u00a0for Sunday’s strike. Nok Air\u00a0was established in early\u00a02004 as the\u00a0Sky Asia Company, and began operating in July 2004. The airline\u00a0began international service in\u00a0May of 2007, with daily flights\u00a0the nation of India.\u00a0Nok Air has 24\u00a0routes in Thailand,\u00a0making it the largest\u00a0domestic carrier. Trouble at the airline\u00a0could have an effect on Boeing, as the airline currently has 8 of the 737 Max 8 aircraft on the order book.<\/p>\n
