This is not the first time\u00a0that the two companies have held\u00a0merger talks over the course of the \u00a0last year.\u00a0Honeywell and\u00a0United Technologies declined to comment on the report.<\/p>\n<h2>United Technologies and Honeywell Business synergies<\/h2>\n<p>United Technologies makes jet engines, elevators, and heating and cooling equipment. It reported a\u00a0profit of $7.6 billion\u00a0last year\u00a0on sales of $56.1 billion. Honeywell is involved with\u00a0aerospace,\u00a0along with\u00a0oil and gas refining, petrochemicals, biofuelsproducts, and\u00a0building systems equipment. The company\u00a0reported net income of $4.8 billion on revenue of $38.6 billion last year. United Technologies has been shifted its business mix\u00a0over\u00a0the course of the last four years. It\u00a0purchase Goodrich Corporation for $16.5 billion in 2012, the biggest\u00a0deal ever for United Technologies.\u00a0The company\u00a0also divested\u00a0its Sikorsky helicopter subsidiary, selling the unit\u00a0to Lockheed Martin last year for $9 billion. A merger between the two would potentially face tough scrutiny from regulators in the United States and Europe.
