{"id":7245,"date":"2020-01-08T21:20:13","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T03:20:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/planesintheair.com\/?p=7245"},"modified":"2020-01-08T21:20:13","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T03:20:13","slug":"boeing-rolls-out-first-space-launch-system-core-stage-for-delivery-to-nasa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/planesintheair.com\/?p=7245","title":{"rendered":"Boeing Rolls Out First Space Launch System Core Stage for Delivery to NASA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Teams at Stennis Space Center prepare for core stage hot-fire testing ahead of Artemis I lunar mission<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Boeing [NYSE: <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/BA?p=BA&amp;.tsrc=fin-srch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"BA (opens in a new tab)\">BA<\/a>] today delivered the core stage of NASA\u2019s first Space Launch System (SLS) deep space exploration rocket, moving it out of the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans to the agency\u2019s Pegasus barge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event marks the first time a completed rocket stage has shipped out of Michoud since the end of the Apollo program. SLS Core Stage 1 is the largest single rocket stage ever built by NASA and its industry partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rollout follows several weeks of final testing and check-outs after NASA\u2019s declaration of \u201ccore stage complete\u201d during a December 9 Artemis Day celebration at Michoud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NASA will transport the SLS core stage to its Stennis Space Center in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, in the next few days for \u201cGreen Run\u201d hot-fire engine tests later this year.&nbsp; After inspection and refurbishing for launch, the stage moves to Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
