American Airlines unveils new international routes for 2024 travel

Fort Worth, Texas — American Airlines Group (Nasdaq: AAL) continues to build a network like no other with more nonstop international operations in 2024. Get ready to explore ancient ruins, mystical cenotes, diverse landscapes and white-sand beaches with new service to Tulum, Mexico (TQO), launching next spring. Separately, American has submitted an application to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to become the only U.S. carrier flying nonstop between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (HND).

Pending approval, American’s new service will operate year-round with one daily frequency. The new flight will complement existing frequencies operated by American’s partner, Japan Airlines, providing more convenient arrival and departure times in New York City and optimal connections across Japan and Asia with one stop in Tokyo. American’s application is the only accretive service between the United States and Japan proposed by a U.S. carrier.

Starting March 28, American will offer four daily nonstop flights to TQO. With one-stop connections from more than 200 destinations, American will offer unparalleled nationwide connectivity to the Riviera Maya. New flights to Tulum build on American’s record winter service to nearby Cancun (CUN), where the airline operates up to 40 peak-day departures to 18 U.S. destinations. American’s flights to Tulum will operate on Boeing 737 aircraft, offering high-speed Wi-Fi, a large selection of streaming entertainment, and in-seat power for all customers.

Tickets for flights to Tulum will be available for purchase starting Nov. 13 on aa.com and American’s mobile app.

Next summer, American will expand its service to Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America. With more than 90 destinations to choose from, American offers the most nonstop options for customers looking to find new adventures next summer. Starting June 5, 2024, American will increase service on several routes across the region.
