JAL announces limited bottles of single malt Asaka Napa Valley Cabernet available on international flights

Tokyo, Japan – Japan Airlines (JAL) encourages tourists to explore various parts of Japan by purchasing and enjoying Japanese craft whisky produced at craft distilleries scattered throughout the country. This is one of the initiatives by JAL to create relationships and societal connections through air transportation.
As the eighth product in this series, a limited number of bottles of Single Malt Asaka Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Cask Reserve from the Asaka Distillery by Sasanokawa Shuzo Co., Ltd.Ā  will be available through an advanced order on international flights.

Sasanogawa Shuzo, a long-established sake brewery founded in 1765, started distilling whisky in 2016 in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture. The large difference in temperature between the hot summer and cold wind blast during the winter allows the whisky to mature quickly producing a rich flavor. The distillery has won numerous awards, including the world’s highest award at the World Whiskies Awards in 2022.

This is a single malt aged for three years in bourbon barrels from non-peated malt base, and then aged for one year in Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrels used in the Napa Valley, a famous Californian wine region. The gorgeous aroma blends the fresh acidity of citrus and green apple with the sweetness of berry jam. The delicate sweetness is followed by a deep flavor, with white pepper spice and pleasant lingering oak-derived tannins. The elegant fruity taste typical of Asaka Distillery is woven together to create a superb product. This whisky is available in limited numbers on JAL international flights.
