Raytheon Company has collaborated with the US-based Ontario International Airport Authority to start construction of a hangar to accommodate its flying multi-programme testbed aircraft.

The RMT is a modified 727 airliner and performs airborne test and assessment on various types of technologies, including radars, electro-optical/infrared sensors, avionics and other systems. The facility will employ 25 full-time staff and up to 50 personnel for project-related work. Economic impact associated with the project will range between $10m and $15m per year.

Located in the Inland Empire, Ontario International is a full-service airport with a non-stop commercial jet service to 19 major airports in the US and Mexico, as well as connection services to both domestic and international destinations. The airport manages an average of 66 daily departures offered by eight air carriers.
