With all the bad publicity that Allegiant Airlines has gotten lately about its perceived poor maintenance practices, I found it ironic that I came across a job posting today on LinkedIn looking for a “Manager os Safety Programs” at Allegiant. The abrupt resignation of COO Steve Harfst after just 13 months left many wondering if his head was the first to roll for the airline’s highly publicized maintenance and operational problems during 2015. This departure came the same month as a former Allegiant mechanics, who quit after just two weeks, because he felt the airlines mechanics operated in “a poor safety culture”.
