JetBlue (NASDAQ: JBLU) today announced it is expanding service in Hartford, Conn., with four new nonstop routes between Bradley International Airport (BDL) and Los Angeles (LAX), Las Vegas (LAS), San Francisco (SFO) and Cancún, Mexico (CUN)*. These routes are part of JetBlue’s strategy to add routes with high potential for leisure demand, and will set the airline up to be the largest carrier in Connecticut by 2021.
Last week, Connecticut simplified its travel advisory enabling all travelers visiting or returning to the state to provide a negative COVID-19 test result obtained within 72 hours prior to or upon arrival to avoid the state’s 14-day quarantine.

The announcement for new Connecticut routes comes shortly after the airline revealed a lineup of two dozen all-new nonstop destinations, plus expanded Mint service in Newark and Los Angeles. Each route plays to JetBlue’s strengths in the airline’s focus cities, in Florida, Latin America and the Caribbean or on cross-country – or transcontinental – flying. Every market has been identified as one in which JetBlue anticipates increasing demand for leisure travel.
In anticipation of these recent network additions, JetBlue is readying some aircraft that have been temporarily parked. The airline is dedicated to remaining flexible, continuing to assess the airline’s network and allowing market demand to determine how long a particular route continues to operate.

PARIS/LONDON/WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Airbus <EADSY> bribed public officials and hid the payments as part of a pattern of worldwide corruption, prosecutors said on Friday as the European planemaker agreed a record $4 billion settlement with France, Britain and the United States.
The disclosures, made public after a nearly four-year investigation spanning sales to more than a dozen overseas markets, came as courts on both sides of the Atlantic formally approved settlements that lift a legal cloud that has hung over Europe’s largest aerospace group for years.
“It was a pervasive and pernicious bribery scheme in various divisions of Airbus SE that went on for a number of years,” U.S. District Judge Thomas Hogan said.
The deal, effectively a corporate plea bargain, means Airbus has avoided criminal prosecution that would have risked it being barred from public contracts in the United States and European Union – a massive blow for a major defence and space supplier.
Prosecutors said individuals could still face criminal charges, however.
Airbus, whose shares closed down 1%, has been investigated by French and British authorities for alleged corruption over jet sales dating back more than a decade. It has also faced U.S. inquiries over suspected violations of U.S. export controls.
“In reaching this agreement today, we are helping Airbus to turn the page definitively” on corrupt past practices, French prosecutor Jean-Francois Bohnert said.
France’s financial prosecutor said the company had also agreed to three years “light compliance monitoring” by the country’s anti-corruption agency.
The U.S. Department of Justice said the deal was the largest ever foreign bribery settlement.
CODE NAME ‘VAN GOGH’
In a packed hearing at London’s Royal Courts of Justice, an Airbus lawyer said the settlements “draw a clear line under the investigation and under the grave historic practices”.
Outlining detailed findings, the UK’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO) said Airbus had hired the wife of a Sri Lankan Airlines executive as its intermediary and misled Britain’s UKEF export credit agency over her name and gender, while paying $2 million to her company. The airline could not be reached for comment.

CHICAGO (Reuters) – United Airlines is in early discussions with Apple Inc about upgrading the U.S. carrier’s terminal at San Francisco International airport, United’s Chief Digital Officer Linda Jojo told journalists on Friday without providing more details.
“I’m being deliberately vague,” she said.
Apple declined to comment on the development. The company has supplied United with iPad tablet computers in the past, but also has deals with United rivals such as American Airlines to let Apple Music customers listen to streaming music on its planes without purchasing in-flight WiFi.

New agreement continues long-standing relationship with San Francisco International Airport
Latest contract highlights Bombardier’s position as industry-leading services provider for automated transit systems
Mobility technology leader Bombardier Transportation announced today that it has signed a new contract with the City and County of San Francisco to provide ten years of operations and maintenance services for the BOMBARDIER INNOVIA APM 100 automated people mover (APM) system at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The contract is valued at $220 million US (193 million euro) and includes an option for an additional five years.
“With this new contract, we will continue to provide San Francisco International Airport with the operations and maintenance services as well as the INNOVIA APM vehicles and signalling technology that bring safe and reliable service to the over seven million passengers who ride the AirTrain system every year,” said Elliot G. (Lee) Sander, President, Americas Division, Bombardier Transportation. “We look forward to supporting the airport as it extends and modernizes the AirTrain system to meet its future mobility requirements.”
Bombardier delivered the airport’s transit system, known as SFO AirTrain, and has been providing operations and maintenance services since it opened in 2003. The AirTrain fleet of 38 INNOVIA APM 100 vehicles serves nine stations along six miles of elevated guideway and connects the airport’s terminals, parking garages, rental car center, and a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station. Under a contract awarded in 2016, Bombardier is providing three additional INNOVIA APM 100 vehicles, a 2,000-foot guideway extension, a new station, and a signalling upgrade.
Bombardier has nearly 50 years of experience in designing, building, operating and maintaining automated transit systems for airports and cities in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Nine of the ten busiest airports in the United States, including SFO, have chosen Bombardier for their automated transit systems.
SFO AirTrain was the world’s first automated transit system to feature the state-of-the-art BOMBARDIER CITYFLO 650 communications-based train control technology. Among other features, this technology allows a high degree of operating flexibility to accommodate peak passenger demands.
United Airlines placed an order today for an additional nine Boeing 787-9 aircraft worth an estimated $1.3 billion, with deliveries starting in 2020. The deal raises Boeing’s total 787 order book for 2018 to 105 aircraft, surpassing the 94 orders it received for all of 2017. United also announced that it will add the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on its routes between Newark and both Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The airline already operates a fleet of 25 of the 787-9, and 12 of the smaller 787-8. United now has a total of 13 Boeing 787-9’s on order, in addition to 14 of the larger 787-10 dreamliners.
United also stated today that Dreamliner aircraft operating the routes between San Francisco and Los Angeles to Newark will include United Polaris business-class and Premium Plus seats, but will not include access to the airline’s high-end Polaris Club lounges available at select United Airlines airports.
United Airlines is hot for Vail, and the Colorado ski resort evidently feels the same about the Chicago-based carrier.
United said today it is expanding its seasonal service to Vail’s Eagle County Regional Airport to include flights from all the airline’s principal hub airports starting Dec. 19. A United spokesman said the enhanced seasonal service will operate through the end of March.
JetBlue expanding its operations from Long Beach Airport in California. The airline will be increasing the number of destinations and flights from its Long Beach Airport hub, which serves as the airlines focus city in southern California. JetBlue’s growth comes on the heals of the announcement of three new slots recent award to the air carrier at Long Beach. JetBlue will also increase its utilization of existing slots at the airport, increasing the number of nonstop cities served by one to twelve.
JetBlue expanding to Reno, Nevada
JetBlue will begin a new nonstop route from Long Beach to the northern Nevada city of Reno on the 15th of August with one daily flight. The flight will depart Long Beach at 12:15pm and arrive in Reno at 1:30pm operating as flight 42. The return service back will depart Reno at 2:15 pm and arrive back in southern California at 3:40 pm. As far as the increase in flight frequencies goes, JetBlue will adding daily flights on several of its current routes to meet increased customer demand. These increased frequencies include more flights to the Bay Area. The airline will add one extra daily flight to San Francisco International Airport beginning on the 15th of August, and an additional flight to Oakland International Airport beginning on the 16th of August. This will give JetBlue four daily roundtrips to both airports. The airline will also add another daily flight to Las Vegas McCarran International Airport beginning on the 15th of August. The new flights will be operated by additional Airbus A320 aircraft.
