Delta picks Airbus again, places an order  for 37 A-321 aircraft. The deal was announced this morning, and follows a deal signed between the two companies for 25 A-350-900 and 25 A-330-NEO’s placed in late 2014. Delta will use the new A-321 aircraft to replace their older, less fuel efficient MD-88 aircraft that were manufactured by McDonald Douglas. Boeing acquired McDonnell Douglas back in August of 1997. This new order is in addition to the 45 Airbus A-321 aircraft that Delta Air Lines ordered back in June of 2014. The new Airbus deal follows on the heels of the airlines order of 75 Bombardier CS100 jets that was just announced. Delta is using the cash that it has been piling up from cheap fuel costs to update its old fleet of tiring aircraft.
