Irish low cost carrier Ryanair announced that it carried 101.4 million passengers for the year 2015, becoming the first airline ever to exceed 100 million passengers in a calendar year. Ryanair Holdings grew at more than twice the pace of European low cost competitor EasyJet last year. The company also announced it will open its 77th crew base this March at the Belfast International Airport in Ireland.
