Rumor has it that Virgin Atlantic is considering a deal for up to 12 Airbus A350-1000 jets, as the airline looks to renew its wide body aircraft fleet. The airline has stated that it is considering both the Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 to replace its older 4 engine aircraft fleet. Since Virgin Atlantic has repeatedly deferred the delivery of the 6 A380 super jumbo aircraft it had originally ordered on April of 2001, could this order be “swapped out” for the A350-1000 jets? Rumor has it that 49% owner Delta is not interested in the A380 airplane and its economics, so this may provide Airbus with a way to try and spin the news in a more positive light.
