Durango, Colorado Airport deals with flat tire and new terminal

A flight operated by United Airlines partner SkyWest airlines landed safely Wednesday at the Durango La Plata County Airport in Colorado with a flat tire. The plane, with 66 passengers and 4 crew members aboard, informed the airport tower that it had possibly blown a tire on take off from Denver International Airport. The plane circled the Durango airport prior to landed safely. No one was injured, and emergency crews temporarily closed the runway to inspect it for any tire debris.

In other Durango La Plata County Airport news, the city council and county commission are discussing the possibility of using grants, or raising taxes, to help fund a new terminal on the east side of the field. A Federal Aviation Administration grant could provide between $35 and $45 million dollars, and would requiring matching local funds.
