Concorde test pilot Andre Turcat has passed away

Andre Turcat, the very first pilot to ever fly the Concorde passed away on January 4, 2016, at the age of 94. Turcat was the chief French test pilot for the Concorde program, and was the pilot for prototype airplane’s maiden voyage in March of 1969, and the first pilot to take the aircraft supersonic. Turcat became a test pilot in the 1950’s after serving in the French Air Force, and joined the Concorde program in 1964.
