United Airlines passes on Bombardier, goes with Boeing

United Airlines announced Thursday that it will buy 40 Boeing 737-700 aircraft that can seat 126 people, and will be flown by United mainline pilots. This will help move some of the airlines capacity back under the scope of United Airlines, and out of the hands of the regional airlines that are suffering from a severe shortage of pilots. The announcement of the $3.2 billion deal was a blow to Bombardier, as they were vying to land the deal for their struggling CSeries program. Deliveries of the new Boeing jets are scheduled to begin in mid 2017.
