Republic Airways has announced that it will close Denver operations beginning on April 1. The shutdown at the airport should be concluded by October 1, 2016. Republic Airlines is based in Indianapolis, Indiana, and operates regional feeder routes for American Airlines, United Airlines, and other air carriers with service to and from about 100 cities. The end of operations at Denver International Airport will result in the loss of 158 jobs. The airline gave no reason for the shutdown, but it is most likely being caused by the shortage of regional airline pilots that has been continuing to plague the US commuter air carriers.
